Tensions erupted between Massimiliano Allegri and Cesc Fabregas during and after AC Milan v Como at San Siro on Wednesday. The rescheduled Serie A fixture from matchday 24 saw the Milan coach dismissed late on.

After full time, the dispute spilled into the corridors, and Corriere della Sera reports that Allegri is said to have called Fabregas an idiot and a novice coach.

With about 10 minutes remaining, Alexis Saelemaekers contested a ball by the touchline when Como manager Fabregas tugged his shirt. Milan staff rushed towards the Como bench, sparking a melee.

Fabregas later apologised, describing his act as unsporting. He said he touched Saelemaekers in the heat of the moment and hopes never to repeat it.

Allegri responded with humour, noting the apology and quipping that he would step onto the pitch next time someone falls by the touchline. He also called Fabregas a very young coach and expressed hope he wins many titles, saying he has all the qualities to do so.
