Chelsea have made history by claiming the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy, completing a remarkable comeback to defeat Real Betis 4-1 in the final at the Tarczyński Arena in Wroclaw. The Blues overturned a first-half deficit to lift the coveted trophy, cementing their status as the first club to win all five major UEFA trophies.
It was Real Betis who drew first blood, as Abde Ezzalzouli fired in a stunning goal in the ninth minute, assisted by the ever-impressive Isco. The Spanish side showed plenty of promise in the first half, with Antony, on loan from Manchester United, squandering an early chance with a header over the bar. Betis continued to press, and Chelsea were fortunate to be trailing by just one goal at the break, as Marc Bartra’s long-range effort was saved by Blues goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
After a lackluster first half, Chelsea emerged from the tunnel with renewed vigour. Manager Enzo Maresca made a tactical change, bringing on Reece James in place of Malo Gusto, with James playing as an inverted right-back. It didn’t take long for the Blues to make their mark, as Cole Palmer delivered a delightful inswinging cross to Enzo Fernandez, who nodded in the equaliser on 65 minutes.
Just five minutes later, Palmer once again showcased his skill, this time providing the assist for Nicolas Jackson to bundle the ball home at the near post, putting Chelsea ahead for the first time in the match.

Chelsea’s dominance continued as Jadon Sancho, a substitute for the Blues, added a third goal with a beautiful curling effort from a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall assist on 83 minutes. The victory was sealed in injury time when Moisés Caicedo’s 20-yard shot deflected into the net, making it 4-1 and ensuring Chelsea’s place in history.
This victory not only secured Chelsea their first European trophy since the 2022 Club World Cup but also marked a successful first season under Enzo Maresca’s management. His decision to field his strongest XI in the final paid off, with the likes of Palmer, Fernandez, and Jackson playing pivotal roles in the second-half turnaround.
For Real Betis, this final represented a historic opportunity, being their first-ever European final. However, despite their bright first-half performance, they were unable to maintain their advantage after the break. Manager Manuel Pellegrini will undoubtedly be left to rue missed opportunities, particularly as his side failed to take control in the second half. While Isco’s assist for Ezzalzouli’s opener was sublime, the Betis attack faltered as the game wore on. In the end, the Spanish side was left heartbroken as they were outclassed by Chelsea’s clinical finishing.
This triumph in the UEFA Europa Conference League adds yet another prestigious trophy to Chelsea’s storied collection. By securing the title, the Blues have now completed the full set of UEFA club trophies, including the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup, and the defunct Cup Winners’ Cup. Furthermore, they have become the first team to beat a Spanish side in a European final since 2002, ending a remarkable 27-year streak where Spanish teams had dominated finals in European club competitions.
Chelsea’s victory marks an impressive milestone in European football, proving that despite a challenging season, they have the depth and resilience to triumph on the continental stage. As the club prepares for further challenges, including their upcoming FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States, their historic victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League will undoubtedly go down as one of the standout achievements of their illustrious history.
