Vasco midfielder Mateus Carvalho felt pain in his left knee during the warm-up before the Copa do Brasil final against Corinthians and was omitted from the bench.

According to Globo.com, he left the pitch in tears, helped by the club’s medical staff.

During a warm-up drill, one foot became stuck in the turf while the other continued the movement, forcing the joint and causing pain.

He had been an option among the substitutes for Fernando Diniz in the first leg of the final.

He will be re-evaluated by the medical department in the coming days and will undergo tests to determine the extent of the problem.
