Wolves claimed their first Premier League win of 2025/26, beating West Ham 3-0 at Molineux to lift a bleak campaign. All three goals came before the break.

Jhon Arias netted inside five minutes. Hwang Hee-chan doubled from the spot after Mateus Mane won the penalty, then Mane found the corner for his first. According to Molineux.news, it followed improvement against Manchester United.

Mane shone again as a number eight, rolling his marker for the opener, winning the penalty, then scoring. His strike felt straight from the Matheus Cunha catalogue, and at 18 he looks Wolves’ main man.

Arias may be Edwards’ fix in midfield. He operated as a number eight with Joao Gomes behind, then Andre replaced Gomes at half-time. Busy throughout, he made eight defensive contributions and finally scored.

Jose Sa justified a third successive start with a commanding display. West Ham sent plenty of high balls in and he punched clear repeatedly. Sam Johnstone looks to have work to do to reclaim the shirt.

Hwang delivered his best display of the season, assisting Arias then converting the penalty. He had missed his previous penalty in the Carabao Cup in August, also against West Ham. He later went off injured and hopefully it is not serious.

The gap to safety is down to 12 points. Survival remains a mountain to climb, yet this follows strong showings against Liverpool and Manchester United. With Rob Edwards improving the side, a good January could keep hopes alive.
