Matheus Pereira set for Corinthians debut in Majestoso

Corinthians has gained another option for the midfield in the Paulista Championship. This Friday (16th), the club completed the registration of midfielder Matheus Pereira for the state competition, allowing him to make his debut in the classic against São Paulo, scheduled for this Sunday at 4 PM (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena.

The player was included in the tournament's List A, which comprises athletes from the main squad. With this update, Timão now has 23 names registered in this list. The regulations of the Federação Paulista de Futebol (FPF) allow each team to register up to 35 athletes in List A until February 13th. Additionally, the club has eight players in List B, designated for youth players up to 21 years old.

The regularization of Matheus Pereira expands the options for coach Dorival Júnior for the role of the first midfielder. Currently, Raniele, Charles, Ryan, and André Carrillo are also available for the position. However, the young player trained at the club is not expected to remain in the squad, as he is negotiating a loan to Fortaleza. In List B, the only midfielders available for the role are André Luiz and Luiz Gustavo Bahia.

Still out of the registered list is midfielder José Martínez. The player is finalizing a process to return to Brazil after spending about three weeks in Venezuela to resolve passport-related issues.

Developed in the Corinthians youth academy, Matheus Pereira returns to the club on loan from Fortaleza, with a contract valid until the end of 2026 and an option to purchase at the end of the contract.

At 27 years old, the midfielder is the second confirmed reinforcement for Corinthians this season. The first was defender Gabriel Paulista, who has already debuted in the defeat against Red Bull Bragantino. Right-back Pedro Milans and forward Kaio César are still in advanced negotiations with the club.

Corinthians returns to the field this Sunday (18th) at 4 PM (Brasília time), facing São Paulo in the third round of the initial phase of the Paulista Championship.
