Matheuzinho on first half of Vasco v Corinthians, Copa do Brasil final

Corinthians went into halftime tied 1-1 with Vasco in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil final, held at Maracanã and starting at 6pm (Brasília time). The goal for the black-and-whites was scored by Yuri Alberto, while on the opposing side the goal was made by Nuno Moreira. With the current score, the outcome remains undecided and is heading towards penalties, since both teams had drawn 0-0 in the first leg at Neo Química Arena.

After the final whistle of the first half, Mateuzinho spoke to reporters about Corinthians’ performance in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil final. The right-back was directly involved in the black-and-white goal by assisting Yuri Alberto and commented on the pace of the match, the weather conditions, and the scenario of the final.

“It’s tough, it’s really hot. We started at a very good pace. That’s when we managed to find the goal. It’s normal that with the heat we slow down a bit. And that’s what a final is, it’s all about the details. They managed to equalize, but the game is even and we’re doing well. Now we need to keep going so we can get the second goal in the second half and win the title,” said Matheuzinho.
