Matías Almeyda will stay off the Sevilla touchline for the league meeting with Valencia, continuing to serve his suspension.

According to Superdeporte, the head coach has completed four of a six-match ban arising from his dismissal against Deportivo Alavés. The punishment was confirmed after Sevilla’s appeal was reviewed by the Tribunal Administrativo del Deporte, which reduced the original sanction by one game.

As a result, Almeyda will be absent from the bench against Valencia.

The case stems from a highly charged finish to the Alavés game, where sustained protests from the Sevilla bench led to a straight red card. Almeyda did not leave the technical area promptly, confronted the referee face to face, kicked a water bottle and clashed with the fourth official, with play halted for three minutes.

His absence removes the manager’s presence on the touchline for a demanding contest as both teams pursue their season objectives.
