Sunderland’s interest in Roma playmaker Matias Soulé remains at a very early stage, while Crystal Palace are reportedly positioned to land Oscar Mingueza on a free.

As reported by Sunderland Echo, the approach for the 22-year-old amounts to a tentative enquiry, with no negotiations under way and the player currently reluctant to consider offers. The situation could shift later in the window if Roma recruit heavily in his position.

For now, Sunderland are monitoring rather than advancing a deal. The Black Cats remain active in the market and will keep assessing options as they prepare for a Premier League and European campaign under Régis Le Bris.

Soulé joined Roma from Juventus last summer after a productive loan at Frosinone. A left-footed attacker, he has been viewed as one of Serie A’s brighter young talents.

Sunderland’s recruitment often targets young, high-upside profiles, though any move for Soulé looks complicated by his stance and Roma’s view. Meanwhile, Mingueza, previously linked with Sunderland, Newcastle United, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton and Fulham, is reported to be heading to Crystal Palace on a free after talks with several clubs.
