Fenerbahçe’s 1-2 win at Lyon in Wednesday’s Champions League play-off second leg was followed by flashpoints as Mattéo Guendouzi taunted home supporters and tempers boiled over.

According to L'Équipe, the 27-year-old former Marseille midfielder had already raised a middle finger before kick-off, then celebrated qualification for the group stage in front of the Groupama Stadium crowd.

After the final whistle he shouted “Allez l'OM !” and made the hand sign popularised by Marseille rapper Jul.

Players from Lyon and Fenerbahçe clashed on the pitch, before matters continued in the tunnel.

The tunnel flashpoint began as Guendouzi tried to leave the field and an OL staff member charged towards him.

He was identified as Antonio Ferreira, Lyon’s goalkeeping coach, who was then confronted by Fenerbahçe personnel.
