We have certainly enjoyed finding the back of the net in the opening games of our Barclays Women’s Super League campaign, with the aim of continuing our scoring run when we travel to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon (12.30pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports).

The eight goals we have netted in our first three WSL games against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Liverpool is the most we have scored at this stage compared to our last five campaigns in England’s top flight.

Each of our eight WSL goals have also been scored by a different player – Hayley Raso, Jess Naz, Drew Spence, Olga Ahtinen, Eveliina Summanen, Bethany England, Clare Hunt plus a Taylor Hinds own goal – only Chelsea in the 2020/21 campaign saw their opening nine goals netted by different sources.

We have also scored two or more goals in four consecutive WSL games for the first time since being promoted back in 2019 – a 3-1 win over West Ham, a 4-0 win over Palace, a 2-2 draw with Villa and a 3-2 defeat to Liverpool.

Meanwhile, we travel to Leigh Sports Village having not lost in our last four away games in the WSL (one win and three draws), although the previous three fixtures on the road ended as a 2-2 draw – including the stalemate at United back in April, 2024.

Match stats

  • Manchester United are aiming to win each of their opening three games of a WSL campaign for the second time in the last three seasons, also doing so 2022-23.
  • Manchester United are unbeaten in all 14 of their previous games in the month of October in the Women’s Super League (W11 D3), with only Manchester City (18 in January and March) and Chelsea (17 in November) playing more times in a specific month without losing in the competition.
  • We are unbeaten in each of their last four away WSL games (W1 D3), but each of the last three have ended in a 2-2 draw – the last team to draw four consecutive matches on the road in the Women’s Super League were Aston Villa in September 2021.
  • Manchester United manager Marc Skinner is unbeaten in seven previous meetings with Tottenham across all competitions (W5 D2), including a 4-0 win over Spurs in last season’s FA Cup final.
  • We have scored two or more goals in four consecutive WSL games for the first time, while their eight goals so far this season is their most after three games of a Women’s Super League campaign.
  • Grace Clinton is aiming become the first ever Manchester United player to score in each of their first three Women’s Super League appearances for the Red Devils; the 21-year-old scored four goals in 20 WSL appearances last season for Tottenham Hotspur.
  • Each of our eight WSL goals this season have been scored by a different player, including own goals (Raso, Naz, Spence, Ahtinen, Summanen, England, Hinds OG, Hunt) – the only team to see their opening nine goals of a campaign netted via a different source are Chelsea in 2020-21 (opening nine).
