Ashleigh Neville has racked up some impressive defensive numbers in the Barclays Women’s Super League so far this campaign.
The experienced defender, who is competing in her eighth season for the Club, has played every single minute (720) in the WSL so far for us this season and she is leading in a number of defensive statistics in England’s top flight.
Always a consistent performer across our backline, ‘Ash’ has won 27 of the 33 tackles she has made this campaign – more than any other player in the WSL – with 19 of those coming in the defensive third.
The 31-year-old has also put her body on the line on numerous occasions as she leads the charts for the most blocks (23) in the league – five more than our former midfielder Grace Clinton, who has made the next highest in the competition this term (18).
That was skill was certainly on display back in October’s clash with Liverpool back in October when Ash produced a fantastic goal-line clearance to deny Olivia Smith in the first half.
She’s also leading the way for the most interceptions in the league (21) – two more than Leicester City’s Ruby Mace – with 16 of those coming in our last five WSL matches.
