Matthew Ryan shined a light on his recent decision to leave Roma.
After only a few months in the Italian capital, the Australian goal-keeper decided to move to Lens in search of more consistent playing time.
In an interview with lensois, Ryan explained the reason behind his decision.
“When you don’t play consistently, it really hurts. In those moments, you tell yourself that you won’t take the next opportunity to play for granted.”
“I wanted to come here, take the opportunity and enjoy the pitch again. I will do what I can to help the team. I am really grateful to be part of the team and to have kept a clean sheet.”
“I didn’t want to be a reserve keeper. Obviously that’s why I chose to leave Roma. I wasn’t satisfied with the playing time I had. There was some interest in Lens. And now I’m here.”
