Matveï Safonov has fractured his left hand and will be out for at least a month, the club said in a statement. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper was hurt during Wednesday’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo.

A further assessment is planned in three to four weeks. Safonov had started PSG’s last four matches.

The final ended 1-1 after extra time, PSG winning 2-1 on penalties, with the Russian making four saves in the shootout.

Lee Kang-In, who went off in the first half of the final, has a left thigh muscle lesion and will be unavailable for several weeks.

PSG published their medical update on Friday 19 December, two days after the final.
