Deportivo Madryn goalkeeper Mauricio Nievas suffered a cardiac arrest during training and is hospitalised after receiving emergency treatment.
According to SuperDepor.com, the 27-year-old collapsed on Thursday morning at the southern Argentine club’s training ground and was attended to immediately.
Coaching and medical staff performed CPR using the on-site equipment, which was key to stabilising him.
He was rushed to Hospital Andrés Isola, where he remains in the intensive care unit. Early tests found no abnormalities, but his condition is described as reserved and he is under strict medical observation.
Born in Córdoba, Nievas joined Deportivo Madryn in 2019 and played a part in promotion to Primera Nacional in 2021.
He remained with the club until 2024, spent last season on loan at Germinal in the Torneo Federal A, then returned to the port side.
