Maurício Ramos takes charge of Série D bottom club Decisão Goiana | OneFootball

Former Palmeiras defender Maurício Ramos has been named head coach of Decisão Goiana of Pernambuco, who are bottom of Série D Group A9 with four points from six matches.

According to Nosso Palestra, the 41-year-old was unveiled on Tuesday 29 as the club fight to avoid relegation.

Ramos retired in early 2023 and moved into coaching. He has led Iraty-PR, Portuguesa Santista, Azuriz-PR and Prudentópolis-PR.

As a player, he made 187 appearances for Palmeiras from 2009 to 2013, scoring eight goals and winning the Copa do Brasil.

He arrived after a spell at Coritiba, then after around four years departed for Al Sharjah. He later played for Vitoria and Chapecoense, finishing his career in 2023 at Portuguesa Santista.

Next for Palmeiras, they face Cerro Porteño in the Libertadores on 20/05 at 21:30 Brasília time.
