Mauricio has emerged as Palmeiras’ leading candidate for a sale in the next transfer window after his World Cup displays, according to Nosso Palestra.
The midfielder was one of seven Palmeiras players at the tournament. He scored one goal and featured against France, Paraguay’s final match of the competition. He reported back to the Academia de Futebol on Monday 13 after a short break.
Despite not being an automatic starter under Abel Ferreira, he enhanced his market standing during the World Cup.
He is currently seen as first on the list of players who could be negotiated, although no official proposal has reached the club for the No 18.
Inside the club, a sale is viewed as sensible both sportingly and financially. While important, he is not treated as indispensable and is considered easier to replace than other starters.
His World Cup form has increased his valuation, which could lead to a favourable deal if an adequate bid arrives in the coming weeks. For now, Palmeiras are calm and awaiting movement, with European interest expected to rise after the tournament.
