Bolton Wanderers are in the market for attacking reinforcements, with Gent's Max Dean and Celtic's Johnny Kenny both targets.

Bolton Wanderers have enjoyed a positive start to life back in the Championship, as Steven Schumacher’s side have picked up four points from their opening two games.

Despite the unbeaten start, the Trotters chief will know that reinforcements are needed ahead of the deadline on Tuesday.

Even though Bolton showed real spirit to draw at QPR last time out, the performance was a concern, as the hosts dominated from start to finish, with the visitors failing to register a shot on target.

A deal for Canadian international Jayden Nelson has been finalised, and he should bring more pace and unpredictability to the side in the final third.

Nevertheless, it seems pretty clear that proven goalscorers are required, as three of the top four goalscorers from last season; Mason Burstow, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Johnny Kenny, are no longer at the club.

It’s no secret that Bolton have been in talks with Gent over a move for Dean for a while now, and the 22-year-old hasn’t featured in their last five games as a result.

So, the Belgian outfit are ready to cash in on the former MK Dons man, but they are determined to hold out on their valuation of the player, which is why no deal has been agreed, despite lengthy negotiations.

FLW exclusively revealed that Millwall were also keen on Dean last month, but Bolton does seem his most likely destination, and, crucially, it has been suggested that Gent may need a sale to fund their own incomings ahead of the deadline.

That would indicate a compromise will be agreed at some point, and whilst it will frustrate Bolton fans that this potential move has taken so long, it will be worth it if they can get it done.

Kenny is another player who has been on Bolton’s radar, and, in an ideal world, the duo will both sign to improve Schumacher’s squad.

As mentioned, Bolton fans know all about Kenny, as he made a positive impression at the club after joining on loan in January, scoring six goals and registering three assists in 14 games, before injury cut his campaign short.

After recovering from injury, Kenny is now back to full fitness, but he was an unused sub in both games as Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League by LASK.

With Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran at the club, Celtic have two new attackers, but the Danish international limped off in their game in the week.

So, Celtic may need to wait to assess that injury, and they also may potentially want another striker through the door before they sanction a move for Kenny, even though the versatile Callum Osmand is an option too.

Ultimately, this will depend on Celtic’s stance, and it’s one that could go to the deadline for the Irish international.
