Arsenal won 1-0 at Sporting Portugal in Lisbon on Tuesday. According to L'Équipe, Max Dowman became the youngest player to feature in a Champions League quarter-final, aged 16 years and 97 days.
The attacking midfielder came on in the second half, replacing Noni Madueke in the 76th minute.
His appearance eclipses the previous mark set by Spain’s Lamine Yamal at 16 years and 272 days, and anyone else at this stage.
However, the youngest player to feature in any Champions League knockout tie remains Filip Pavic at 16 years and 58 days.
The Bayern Munich youngster also came off the bench against Atalanta on 18 March in the round of 16 first leg, a 4-1 win, and has not played since.
