Ex-Schalke player Max Meyer has hopes of returning to play in the Bundesliga, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Meyer has not played in the Bundesliga since 2018, when he left Schalke to join Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The German is now playing in Switzerland and is currently playing for FC Lucerne where he is the captain and is enjoying a successful season, scoring six goals and providing three assists so far this campaign.
The club are reportedly looking to extend his contract which expires in the summer.
Meyer though has ambitions of returning to German football and is likely to leave Lucerne on a free transfer in the summer if he can secure a new club in his home country.
Talks between Meyer and the club are being planned for the beginning of 2024 however from the 1st January, the 28 year old can also be allowed to talk and meet freely with other clubs.
