Max Wober has reflected on an injury-hit spell at Werder Bremen and addressed his Leeds United future.

“So far, relatively little. I'm pretty sure I won't be the most sought-after player at Leeds United anymore. That much is clear to me. We'll see how things develop.” He told DAB Der Audiobeweis.

He joined Bremen on loan last July and played only three times, injuring a hamstring on his August debut before a calf tear in a winter friendly delayed his competitive return until 26 April.

Bremen are believed to hold a purchase option, but after so little football that appears unlikely. As it stands, he is due for a second return to Leeds after leaving for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023.

The winter setback was worse than first thought, a calf strain became a tear with tendon involvement, and he was not fit enough for Austria’s World Cup squad.

He has one year left on his Leeds deal. “I'm assuming I'll return for pre-season training as normal.”

“And I think after an injury like that, you simply need training sessions with the team, friendlies where you get that feeling in your body again that you're fit, that everything's working, and that everything's holding up. So I'll just take it as it comes.”
