The transfer saga involving Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has now involved the player’s ‘personal driver’ while on holiday in Italy this week.

The England international has been the subject of growing transfer speculation this summer following a frustrating campaign at City, where his influence waned amid injuries and fierce competition for places.

While Pep Guardiola has publicly praised Jack Grealish’s attitude and quality he brings to the squad, Manchester City’s openness to a potential loan exit – and interest from Premier League and European clubs – has only intensified rumours around his future.

West Ham, Everton, and Tottenham have all been linked with domestic moves for the 29-year-old, but financial constraints have made any permanent deal difficult. European options – particularly in Italy – have also entered the conversation, with Napoli assessing the feasibility of a deal should they generate the necessary funds.

Napoli, now preparing for a title defence and boosted by the arrival of Kevin De Bruyne earlier in the summer, have been eyeing wide attacking reinforcements. Jack Grealish, with his experience, creativity and marketing appeal, likely fits the profile.

However, the key challenge remains whether Manchester City would sanction a loan on particular terms, and whether the player would be open to leaving England – something that had previously seemed unlikely.

According to the latest edition of Corriere dello Sport, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Jack Grealish is currently on holiday in Naples, landing at Capodichino Airport, before heading down to the Amalfi Coast via a chauffeured car.

The report believes that it is no coincidence that Grealish has been holidaying in the Naples area amid links with Serie A champions Napoli this summer, while Radio Goal have spoken to the player’s personal driver, Salvatore.

As relayed by TuttoNapoli, Salvatore said, “Grealish is still on the Amalfi Coast; I actually accompanied him. I can’t tell you where he’s training, but yes, he’s here. I accompanied him this morning.

“He’s been here for two or three days already. Maybe there’s some contact with Napoli. I picked him up at Naples airport, accompanied him to the Amalfi Coast, and this morning he had his first training session.

“I can’t ask him anything; he’s on holiday and might be bothered by some questions.”

Whether Grealish’s Italian holiday is a cleverly disguised opportunity for informal transfer discussions or a mere coincidence remains to be seen. At this stage, a temporary move has also not been ruled out, especially with the City squad being reshaped for the 2025/26 campaign.

As previously reported, AC Milan and Napoli links have been dismissed in the past, but the player’s presence in the region has revived speculation, especially now that indirect quotes from those around him – even his driver – are hitting local headlines.

It is unclear whether Napoli will follow up with a formal approach, but if they do, they may find a receptive audience at Manchester City. Much will depend on whether Jack Grealish wishes to play abroad for the first time in his career, and if the terms are right for all parties.
