Mayke out with virus as Santos visit Recoleta in Sudamericana | OneFootball

Santos will be without right-back Mayke for their Copa Sudamericana trip to Recoleta after he contracted a virus. They completed preparations on Monday. The sides meet on Tuesday at 21:30 Brasília time at the Monumental Río Parapití in Pedro Juan Caballero, Paraguay.

According to Globo.com, the defender fell ill on Saturday and still stayed on the bench for the derby with Palmeiras in the Brasileiro. After that match, coach Cuca said he was not in condition to play, without disclosing details.

Santos are also missing Lautaro Díaz with pain in his right thigh. Further absences are left-back Vinícius Lira with a left knee injury, midfielder Gustavo Henrique with a left adductor issue, and Gabriel Menino, who is transitioning back to full training.

A likely Santos side is Gabriel Brazão in goal, a back four of Igor Vinícius, Lucas Veríssimo, Luan Peres and Escobar, midfield of Willian Arão or João Schmidt, Christian Oliva, Gabriel Bontempo and Rollheiser, with Neymar and Gabigol up front.

Santos sit bottom of Group D with two points from three rounds and need a positive result to keep alive their push for top spot, which brings direct passage to the next phase.
