Although he finally achieved his dream of joining Real Madrid in 2024, the last two years have not been the most glorious of Kylian Mbappe’s career. He has endured both of his first two seasons at the Merengue club without winning any trophy, despite having impressed with his goalscoring, scoring 44 goals in his first and 42 goals in his second season in Spain.
After a turbulent last season with Los Blancos, the Frenchman was aiming to win the World Cup 2026 with France. However, that dream has also been shattered now, as the Blues tasted defeat at the hands of Spain in the semi-final. To make matters worse, his former team, Paris Saint-Germain, has won both of the last two Champions League titles, raising doubts that Mbappe was holding the team back.
In such a context, the Frenchman must be feeling like a wounded tiger, and as MARCA has reported, he is now ready to put himself in the new Real Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho’s, hands to reach the same heights as his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. It needs to be remembered here that it was the Portuguese coach who ultimately turned his compatriot into his most lethal version at the Merengue club, when he scored 60 goals in the 2012-13 season.
Ronaldo was 27 years of age when he achieved this feat, the same age as Kylian Mbappe is right now. He will now be starting his vacation, which will last three weeks, after a hectic season and the upcoming season during which he is once again expected to face very high pressure.
Hopefully, the new coach Jose Mourinho will be able to work his magic with Kylian Mbappe as well as he did with Cristiano Ronaldo in his first stint, and write another memorable chapter in the history of Real Madrid.
