In what could be the next great goalscoring rivalry on the continent, Real Madrid and France superstar Kylian Mbappé has just taken the upper hand with his latest goal for Los Blancos.
The post-Alonso era continues tonight as the Spanish giants lock horns with Villarreal at Estadio de la Ceråmica, with a chance to leapfrog bitter rival Barcelona should they secure all three points on their travels.
Despite tough opposition in the vein of Marcelino's El Submarino Amarillo, Real Madrid took the lead two minutes after the halftime interval through a calm finish from the Frenchman; his 20th of the season in 20 La Liga appearances.
With that, Mbappé sat on 38 non-penalty goals since the start of last season, one ahead of Manchester City ace Erling Haaland and the most of any player across Europe's top five leagues.
He would later go on to convert a penalty in stoppage time to complete his brace, giving him a combined 87 goals and assists in just 87 appearances for the club since arriving in the summer of 2024, 21 for the season, and 32 goals across all competitions in 2025/26.
How many more goals does Mbappé have in his locker amid his generational career?
