Real Madrid began their 2025/26 Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Olympique Marseille at the Santiago Bernabéu, despite a red card for Dani Carvajal.

Timothy Weah put Marseille ahead early on, but Kylian Mbappé converted a penalty after Rodrygo was fouled in the box to level before half-time.

The first half also saw standout performances from newcomers Mastontuono and Rodrygo, with the Argentine almost scoring with a solo effort that rattled the post.

In the second half, Vinícius Júnior came off the bench to spark Real’s attack. His run into the box led to another penalty, which Mbappé calmly converted to make it 2-1.

The Spanish side held on despite being down to ten men, with Thibaut Courtois making a crucial late save to secure all three points.
