Kylian Mbappé put on a sensational show, netting a super hat-trick (four goals) in Real Madrid's clash against Olympiacos on Matchday 5 of this season's UEFA Champions League group stage.
The French striker made history with goals in the 22nd, 24th, 29th, and 60th minutes. For Olympiacos, the goals came from Portuguese midfielder Chiquinho (8’), Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi (52’), and Moroccan forward Ayoub El Kaabi (81’).
Thanks to this dazzling performance, Mbappé becomes just the fourth player in Real Madrid history to score four goals in a single Champions League match, joining the legendary ranks of Puskas, Di Stéfano, and Cristiano Ronaldo—now at Al-Nassr.
After the match, the 26-year-old addressed the insulting chants from Olympiacos supporters:
“Oh yes, yes, yes, during the warm-up,” he recalled. “They were speaking French, but it was bad French, you know. The accent was terrible, but that’s life. It’s no big deal, I stayed focused on my team, on helping them, and I was thinking about our performance on the pitch and the great reaction from our fans.”
Mbappé also shared how proud he is to be regularly compared to the legend Cristiano Ronaldo:
“I am on the path to achieving great things, just like Cristiano Ronaldo, Puskas, and Di Stéfano. That’s my dream. Of course, I’m proud to be compared to Cristiano, but I still have a long way to go before reaching his level here at Real Madrid.”
