Stoke City beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road to climb from 22nd to ninth in the Championship.

Jack McGlynn struck in the fourth minute of first half stoppage time, whipping a right-footed finish into the top corner to put Stoke ahead.

After the restart, Lamine Cissé rattled the bar and Eric Junior Bocat doubled the lead (57.), guiding a left-footed effort into the centre of the net after Cissé's pass.

Bocat later went off injured (80.), before Viktor Johansson kept Stoke two ahead by saving Luca Kjerrumgaard's low strike (90.). The Hornets set up a tense finish when substitute Amin Nabizada arrowed into the top right in the first minute of second half stoppage time after Edo Kayembe's corner was recycled.

Johansson's late stop added to an assured visiting display, while Jordan Zemura had earlier departed injured for the Hornets before the interval.

Stoke City tallied 18 attempts and eight corners as their control told. The Hornets managed six attempts.
