McTominay back in training with Napoli after heart surgery | OneFootball

Scott McTominay is a step closer to full recovery following heart surgery, as Napoli confirmed he resumed training on the pitch today with his teammates.

The Scotland international had the operation on September 8 to correct a mild benign heart arrhythmia, which was identified thanks to the use of wearable tech during both matches and training sessions.

It required a minor operation and some complete rest, but he is gradually returning to the playing field.

McTominay returns for Napoli

Napoli’s social media channels published some images from today’s session at the Castel Volturno Training Camp which showed McTominay participating with the rest of the squad, or rather what remains of it after most left on international duty.

Following work in the gym, this is the first time that the former Manchester United midfielder has been training with the ball on the pitch.

Before he is allowed a full return to the field, he must undergo tests with the Italian authorities and get the all-clear, as they have very strict rules on cardiac issues.
