Scott McTominay dedicated his player of the match away from Napoli’s 2-0 Champions League win over Qarabag to the club’s kitmen, who he describes as ‘the real MVPs’ despite his personal heroics on the night.
McTominay continues to go from strength to strength under Antonio Conte at Napoli, with five goals to his name so far at club level this season, plus another two in World Cup qualifying with Scotland.
Against Qarabag on Tuesday night, the former Manchester United midfielder scored ‘a goal and a half’ as it has been described by the Italian press. That is: A goal of his own from a corner and an own-goal from Marko Jankovic, which came as a result of the Scot’s swivelling volley in the area.

The 27-year-old was awarded the man of the match award for his performance at the Stadio Maradona.
Tuttosport described McTominay’s display as an homage to the late, great Maradona on Wednesday’s front page, following what was the fifth anniversary of the Argentine’s death on Tuesday.
McTominay, despite the praise that continues to come his way, dedicated his player of the match award to Napoli’s kit staff, who he described as ‘the real MVPs’ in a post on Instagram.
