Medhi Benatia has confirmed the arrivals of Quinten Timber and Ethan Nwaneri at Marseille before the Champions League meeting with Liverpool. “Timber has signed for four and a half years,” he said, speaking to Canal+.

“He is of very good level, already proven even though he is still relatively young, 24,” Benatia added about the Dutch midfielder.

Timber had initially been targeted for a free transfer in summer 2026.

Nwaneri, 18, joins from Arsenal on loan. “It is a loan opportunity. These are deals we were able to do thanks to our coach,” Benatia said.

“It was the only position we had not doubled, we had nobody behind Mason (Greenwood),” he added. Benatia did not say whether either player will be available for Marseille’s next game, against Lens in Ligue 1 on Saturday at 21.05.
