Miami, FL – Concacaf has announced that Melchie Dumornay (Haiti) and Adalberto Carrasquilla (Panama) have been named 2023/24 Concacaf Women’s and Men’s Players of the Year, respectively.

Concacaf's official player awards program saw Melchie and Adalberto selected based on a football-first voting system, which included the participation of coaches and players from Concacaf Member Associations, as well as media members from our region and fans.

The 2023/24 season nominees included a list of six players in each category, all selected based on performance statistics and the input of football experts. More details on the nominees and voting process are available here.

Concacaf President Victor Montagliani on Melchie Dumornay winning the Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year Award for 2023/24: “On behalf of Concacaf, I congratulate Melchie as a very worthy winner of this award. We have seen her tremendous rise in our confederation with her incredible skill and determination. We saw it in our W Championship in Mexico two years ago for the Haiti national team and again in her outstanding performances in the FIFA Women’s World Cup last year. She is doing great things for her club in France and is an inspiration for people in Haiti and all of the Concacaf region.”

Concacaf President Victor Montagliani on Adalberto Carrasquilla winning the Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year Award for 2023/24: “Coco Carrasquilla was the best player in our 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. He inspired and led Panama to the Final with outstanding performances, and during his club season with the Houston Dynamo, he led them to the US Open Cup title and a berth into the Concacaf Champions Cup. He has driven Panama to the next level on the pitch, and I congratulate him as a very worthy Concacaf Player of the Year. On behalf of Concacaf, I congratulate Coco for a fantastic season.”

⁠⁠Melchie Dumornay (HAI) | Olympique Lyonnais Féminin (FRA)

Olympique Lyonnais Féminin midfielder Dumornay is the first Haitian to win Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year honors and the second Caribbean player (Jamaica and Manchester City player Khadija Shaw winning the accolade last year). The 21-year-old has been a rising star in the region due to her stellar performances for club and country. Haiti and Dumornay began their 2023/24 season by competing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Dumornay played in all three Group Stage matches, competing against England, China, and Denmark. Dumornay also represented her nation in the Road to W Gold Cup tournament later in the year, where she finished as joint top scorer with eight goals – Haiti finished second place in its group and qualified for the 2024 W Gold Cup Prelims. At the club level with Olympique Lyonnais in the French first division, Dumornay was equally impressive. Throughout the 2023/24 season, Dumornay appeared in 20 matches and scored nine goals across all club competitions, winning the first two trophies of her professional career. Dumornay scored the first goal in a 2-0 win over PSG to win the 2023 Trophée des Championnes. Her exceptional performance also earned her the 2023/24 UEFA Women's Champions League Young Player of the Season award.

Adalberto Carrasquilla (PAN) | Houston Dynamo FC (USA)

Adalberto Carrasquilla is the first Panamanian to win Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year honors. The 25-year-old midfielder began a superb season by helping Panama reach the final of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. He made six starts and scored the decisive penalty in the shootout against the United States in the semifinals. Carrasquilla was awarded the Golden Ball and named to the competition’s Best XI.The Panama City native continued his stellar season by guiding his nation over Costa Rica in the 2023/24 Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals to advance to the Concacaf Nations League Finals for a second consecutive edition.The Panamanian star also enjoyed success at the club level in MLS with Houston Dynamo FC. From June 2023 to July 2024,  Carrasquilla scored six goals across all club competitions, helping the Dynamo qualify for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup, claim its second US Open Cup title, and reach the MLS Western Conference Final. With Carrasquilla on the field, Houston advanced over Saint Louis City SC in Round One of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup. The club bowed out against eventual runners-up Columbus Crew.

André-Pierre Gignac (FRA) | Tigres UANL (MEX) vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CAN)

André-Pierre Gignac’s goal in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup first-leg Round One match between Tigres UANL and Vancouver Whitecaps FC has been voted by fans as the Concacaf Goal of the Year. In the dying minutes of the second half, Tigres’ Frech forward fired in a free kick into the top right corner to earn his side a 1-1 draw.A group of football experts selected the 12 Goal of the Year nominees, with Gignac receiving almost 30% of the total fan votes. Only goals scored in Concacaf women’s and men’s national team and club competitions that took place in the 2023/24 season (June 2023 to July 2024) were eligible for consideration.
