Melvin Gomes to sign three-year first professional deal with Monaco | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, 18-year-old France U18 defender Melvin Gomes will sign his first professional contract with Monaco this week.

The deal is for three years and will add a new professional to the club’s ranks. Born in Marseille, he joined Monaco’s academy in summer 2023 and will continue his development on the Rock.

He had been the subject of strong interest from Chelsea, who made an approach offering a contract, but he will remain with his formative club.

Standing at over 1.90m, Gomes can play as a centre-back or at right-back.

He is currently part of Monaco’s Elite group and features for France U18. Within youth circles he is regarded as a player of very high potential.
