Mendes hunts options as Barcelona future dims for Casado | OneFootball

Marc Casadó’s Barcelona future is increasingly uncertain, despite travelling with the squad to St George’s Park, and Jorge Mendes is seeking options.

According to Sport, he played 62 minutes against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s and will also feature on Monday against Preston North End.

He returns to Barcelona on Monday and has until the end of August to decide his future. Hansi Flick has told him minutes will be scarce, even with Frenkie de Jong sidelined for several months.

The coach favours Marc Bernal, Pedri and Gavi, with the versatile Eric García also ahead of him in the two central midfield roles in front of the defence.

Barcelona rejected an offer of 10 million euros before 30 June that would have aided the 2025-2026 budget. They value the 22-year-old, under contract until 2028 and who has represented Spain, at 30 or 40 million euros.

His involvement has already dipped, from 36 games and 2,447 minutes in 2024-2025 to 34 appearances and 1,397 minutes last season. If he stays, the club warn his role could shrink further.

Even so, he is reluctant to leave the club he joined aged 13 from Dam. Mendes has explored Al Hilal interest, but Casadó does not want to play in Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye offers are not being considered. He wants to remain in Europe.

Mendes will keep searching through August for a European move that suits all parties, though few clubs can match Barcelona’s price.
