Formose Mendy is set for a change of scenery this summer. The Senegal international (10 caps, 1 goal) will join Watford on loan, with the club competing in the Championship.

The 24-year-old defender is under contract with Lorient until June 2028. Eager to take on a new challenge, he will try to make his mark with the English second-tier side.

The deal is a straight loan without a purchase option for the former Amiens SC player, who made 42 appearances (scoring once) over two seasons with Les Merlus.

Mendy started in Lorient’s first two matches of the season, facing Auxerre and Rennes, marking Lorient’s return to Ligue 1.

Watford currently sit 12th in the English Championship table with 4 points from 3 matches (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss). The Hornets take on Southampton this Saturday, August 30, in the fourth round of fixtures.
