Spain vs France produced nine goals, while former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was held to a draw in his first match as Brazil head coach. Here’s how the Premier League internationals got on in the latest round of international games.
Mikel Merino, Pedro Porro and Ibrahima Konate all started the Nations League semi-final, while Malo Gusto came off the bench in the second half for France.
Arsenal midfielder Merino was on the scoresheet for Spain, firing low past Mike Maignan at the near post to put his side 2-0 up early into the match.
Both Tottenham and Chelsea’s full backs were involved in creating goals. Porro’s first time pass set up Yamal’s second goal whilst Gusto’s cross was turned into his own net by Daniel Vivian.
Nine Premier League players were in action in Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Ecuador. Casemiro and Richarlison, of Manchester United and Tottenham respectively, both started, with the Tottenham forward making his first appearance for Brazil since October 2023, playing 64 minutes before being replaced.
Chelsea duo Estevao and Moises Caicedo both started for Brazil and Ecuador respectively, with Estevao also coming off just after the hour mark. Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and Brighton’s Pervis Estupinan also started, while Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli and new Manchester United signing Matheus Cunha came off the bench midway through the second half.
This was Ecuador’s 10th clean sheet in their last 15 games.
Manuel Ugarte started for Uruguay in as they lost their World Cup Qualifier against Paraguay.
Brighton attacker Julio Enciso was on the scoresheet for Paraguay
Emiliano Martinez and Cristian Romero kept clean sheets for Argentina as they beat Chile in their World Cup qualifier, with Romero putting in a standout performance at the back.
Argentina are 10 points clear of Ecuador in second place in the qualifying table.
