According to Inter Miami, Messi and Casemiro have been named in the MLS Team of the Matchday for matchday 23 of the 2026 regular season, presented by Audi. It is Messi’s ninth selection of the campaign and Casemiro’s first, achieved in only six MLS appearances.

Casemiro opened the scoring in the 20th minute with his first goal for the club, a header from a Telasco Segovia corner.

Messi struck twice before the break. In the closing stages, he assisted Luis Suárez in the 80th minute, added a deft chip in the 83rd and a free-kick in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

The 7-1 result was Inter Miami’s biggest winning margin in club history. Messi now has 18 goals in 19 regular-season appearances and 10 assists, and leads the MLS Golden Boot race.
