Lionel Andrés Messi has arrived at Argentina’s AFA base in Ezeiza and is preparing for his final match for the Albiceleste, against Benín at the Monumental on Tuesday at 20:00.
According to SuperDepor.com, Lionel Scaloni’s squad returned to the camp after defeating Burkina Faso, where they reunited with their captain.
The Rosario-born forward, who has already announced his farewell to the national team, will train later today as Argentina prepare for their third friendly of this FIFA window, after victories over Bolivia 4-0 and Burkina Faso 7-0. A traditional asado is scheduled for the evening.
Giovani Lo Celso, Rodrigo De Paul and Nicolas Otamendi will also join up for Tuesday’s game. Leandro Paredes will be absent due to a sanction following incidents with Spain in the World Cup final.
At 39, Messi has played 207 times and scored 125 goals for Argentina, the national side’s all-time record. His honours include the World Cup, two Copas Americas and the Finalissima.
