While Messi was the man hitting the headlines for PSG, it was Fabián Ruiz who opened the scoring for the Parisians inside the opening half-hour, darting in behind the Ajaccio defence before slotting home.

Achraf Hakimi doubled the lead for the hosts, collecting a rebounded shot and sending the ball into an open net, despite some indication that there was a handball in the buildup.

PSG put the proceedings to bed almost immediately from the restart, as Kylian Mbappé fired home after a scramble in the box. Minutes later, the Frenchman secured his brace to send PSG four clear of their visitors on the night.

A Mohamed Youssouf was the dagger fo Ajaccio, seeing the relegation side concede five on the night and all but confirm their fate in the drop-zone.
