According to Spanish journalist Alfredo Martinez, it has come to light that Lionel Messi is not considering a return to Barcelona as a player, at least not for now. 

He states that the legendary Argentine has closed that chapter of his career and remains fully committed to Inter Miami, where he has settled into life both on and off the pitch.

Messi’s decision is said to stem from his satisfaction with his current environment in the United States. 

The 38-year-old enjoys a long-term deal with Inter Miami, until 2028, and prefers to go season by season, evaluating his condition and motivation rather than planning years ahead. 

After two decades of defining football at Barcelona, Messi has no plans to reopen that part of his story as a player.

However, Alfredo Martinez does add that if Messi ever returns to Barcelona, it would not be in a playing capacity but rather “inside the offices – in the sporting area.” 

This statement has sparked speculation about a potential future role within the club’s management or youth development system, allowing Messi to contribute his footballing wisdom in a new way.

For Barcelona fans, this update may come as bittersweet news. While many still dream of a romantic return to the Camp Nou pitch, Messi’s vision appears to be shifting toward shaping the club’s future from behind the scenes. 

In the meantime, Messi continues to focus on his career in Major League Soccer, helping Inter Miami grow both competitively and commercially. 

Though his boots may never again grace the Camp Nou turf, his story with Barcelona is far from over, as it may simply be entering a new chapter.
