The Argentine Football Association has ordered a nationwide tribute to Lionel Messi across the next round of fixtures, recognising his career with the national team. The federation announced the measure in Bulletin No. 6940, dated 2 September 2026.
All matches in every category and discipline, men’s and women’s, must pause at 10 minutes of the first half.

At that point, a one-minute applause will acknowledge Messi’s achievements in the Argentina shirt.
The instruction covers 11-a-side football, futsal and beach soccer.
Stadiums equipped with screens must also show an AFA institutional video before kick-off.
