A lacklustre Mexico needed an 85th-minute winner to overcome Peru in California on Saturday as World Cup preparations continued.
Scorers: Lozano 85′
An evenly contested first period left little to separate the two sides as Henry Martin’s 20th-minute header, which sailed wide Pedro Gallese’s goal, was the best chance of the half.
Edson Alvarez tried his luck from range early into the second period but chances remained few and far between as the game ticked towards it’s end before Hirving Lozano fired the Tricolor ahead with five minutes remaining.
César Montes got the final touch on the ball before the Napoli midfielder’s half-volley was planted beyond Gallese in the Peru goal.
Gerardo Martino side have one last game in their World Cup preparations as they face Colombia on Tuesday, whereas Peru take on El Salvador.
