MHSC Féminines have rebranded as Montpellier FC, nine months after their sale to Crux Football. The club announced the new identity on Friday, including a fresh crest.
The badge draws on the Camargue, with prominent flamingos, while the traditional orange and blue are retained.
The crest moves from a circle to an oval and now features 2001, the year of the team’s creation. Back then, Louis Nicollin’s club absorbed Montpellier-Le Crès to launch the women’s section.
Facing liquidity needs, Laurent Nicollin sold the women’s team last October. The buyer, Crux Football, was founded by former New Zealand international Rebecca Smith.
Now led by Patrice Lair, Montpellier FC will begin their Arkema Première Ligue campaign on five September, hosting Toulouse.
