The Red Devils sit third in the Premier League table and remain firmly in contention for Champions League football next season. A victory against Brentford would mark a significant step forward, strengthening their grip on a place in Europe’s elite competition and easing pressure heading into the final stretch of fixtures.
Carrick is hoping to have Leny Yoro available for selection, while Patrick Dorgu is also closing in on a return.
“Patrick Dorgu is working his way to being back, certainly making good progress and closer to training with us, which is positive. So that’s good news,” said Carrick.
“We’re still working with Leny [Yoro]. So, there is a possibility, but at this stage it is not 100 per cent sure.”
Since his arrival at Old Trafford in January, Carrick has overseen a strong turnaround in form, winning his first five home games in charge. Overall, United have recorded eight wins and two draws under his leadership, with their only defeats coming against Newcastle United and Leeds United.
With the season nearing its conclusion, speculation continues over whether Carrick will be offered the role on a permanent basis. The interim boss has been open about his enjoyment of the job and the responsibility that comes with managing the club during a crucial period.
“I’ve been here for quite some time and seen quite a lot, some ups and some downs. So your experience helps you a lot in situations,” he said.
“I wouldn’t say I was surprised by it. Working with the players is what I enjoy, and that’s a big passion—helping them develop, getting results, and sharing it with the supporters.
“When you get important wins and big wins and you have moments to enjoy, it’s what we’re here for. You’ve got to make the most of them as well.”
United face Brentford at Old Trafford at 8pm, live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.
