Manchester United have overseen a mixed transfer window so far. The Red Devils entered the summer with the aim of strengthening their midfield, which had been depleted by the departure of Casemiro.

The English giants have since signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while long-term target Carlos Baleba arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion this week. INEOS also signed free agent Karl Darlow to bolster the goalkeeping department.

However, as the shock 2-0 defeat to Hull City last weekend highlighted, United may need further reinforcements to compete at the highest level this season. The Red Devils will be participating in the Champions League this year after finishing third in the Premier League last campaign.

With only days left in the transfer window, the English giants could be set for a busy end to the summer. It now appears that manager Michael Carrick is also looking forward to further additions to his squad.

United eyeing further additions to squad

According to Football Insider, Carrick is hoping to add three new faces to his squad before the end of the transfer window. The report states: “Michael Carrick wants Man United to make three new signings before the summer transfer window closes next week, sources have told Football Insider.”

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast before the Baleba deal was done, journalist Pete O’Rourke added: “(Central midfield) has been the key priority area that United’s recruitment team wanted to strengthen, so if they bring in Baleba that’ll be three signings made.”

“Left back is an area of the team that United are looking to strengthen too, they’ve obviously been frustrated in their pursuit of Lewis Hall. They’ve been looking at other players as well, as they want cover and competition for Luke Shaw.”

“And then they have looked at a left winger as well, but maybe that need for a new left winger has been lessened with Marcus Rashford returning to the club. As things stand right now, he might play a big role for United this season, and he’ll almost be like a new signing for them.”

United want Joaquin Seys

The report goes on to state that Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys is a priority target for the Red Devils this summer. The report continues: “Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Club Brugge star Seys is a top left-back target for the Red Devils as it stands.”

Joaquin Seys Stats: 2025/26 Season

United are hoping to sign the Belgian international for less than his £30 million asking price, with the report adding: “United are keen on his services, but want to broker a deal for less than his £30m price tag over the next eight days.”

“The likes of Alejandro Balde, David Raum and Jorge Salinas have also been linked to Old Trafford as potential targets to bolster their left-back depth.”

A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person has also linked Seys with a move to Old Trafford.

Final Thoughts

United could do with more cover for Shaw, who is already on the wrong side of 30 and has entered the final year of his contract. Meanwhile, the Red Devils could also do with a new striker, especially with Joshua Zirkzee’s future also uncertain.
