Michael Carrick has welcomed Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte back to first-team training at Carrington today.

As a result, it looks as though the Brazilian will instantly be restored to the starting XI for the visit of Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Carrick assured that Casemiro was expected to be fit to face Forest, which will mark his final home game as a Manchester United player.

His last-ever appearance will then come the following week on matchday 38, when the Reds travel to take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex on May 24.

Who will make way for Casemiro this weekend?

Mason Mount was called upon to start in the absence of his veteran counterpart, but will have likely conceded that he’ll drop back to the bench as soon as the five-time Champions League winner returns.

He has started only once under Carrick in the defeat to Leeds United, and only did so because Kobbie Mainoo was unavailable.

Since then, he has been an unused substitute for the subsequent three matches that he was available for, making it crystal clear where he ranks in the manager’s estimations.

Ugarte’s record under Carrick

United’s encounter with the Tricky Trees was pencilled in for this Sunday after they were knocked out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage by Aston Villa.

With their Premier League safety now secured, they’re really just playing for pride in their remaining fixtures, with Vitor Pereira already fulfilling the task assigned to him when he was appointed.
