The Slovenia international did not feature in any of Man United’s summer friendlies in preparation for the new season after sustaining an injury in the home win over Liverpool at the beginning of May.

Man Utd are next in action on Saturday, taking on newly-promoted Hull in the lunchtime kick-off at the MKM Stadium and Carrick has provided an update on Sesko.

Speaking in Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Carrick said: “Ben's [Sesko] back training. So that's again another positive.

“Looking forward to having him back around the group and getting him some minutes as well.”

However, Carrick has revealed that the Hull game comes too soon for Matthijs de Ligt and Mason Mount, with the former still on the road to recovery following back surgery.

“Yeah, Karl's [Darlow] trained this week. He's back training, so he's in good shape,” the Man United boss added.

“Matt's [De Ligt] obviously been out for a long period of time, but he's training and great to have him back. Well, he won't be involved, but he's in good shape and moving in a good direction. So that's really a good bonus for us, at this stage to have him back.

“And then managing Mason [Mount] a little bit, but he's very close, so it's touch and go for the weekend really, if not, going into next week.”
