Pressure is increasing on the Man United boss after three games without a win

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has seen his odds of becoming the first managerial casualty of the season slashed by betting sites, though he is not the front-runner.

Man United needed a late deflected Matheus Cunha strike to earn a point away at Fulham on Sunday, stretching their winless run to three games across all competitions.

The 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage leaves Man Utd 12th in the Premier League table having taken just five points from a possible 15, with their only wins this season coming against promoted Ipswich and Champions League debutants Sabah.

That point, however, lifted Fulham above Tottenham - who cannot move off the bottom of the table for at least three weeks because of the new international break.

This is all reflected in the latest odds with Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi the favourite among bookmakers, Betfair, to lose his job first, but Carrick is not too far away.

A Betfair spokesperson said: “Odds have been dramatically slashed on Michael Carrick to be the first Premier League manager to leave their role during the 2026/27 season with the Man United boss now 5/2 from 10/3 to go following the Red Devils’ latest Premier League setback against Fulham on Sunday.

“Carrick has also seen his odds shorten into 11/10 - a 48% chance - from 5/2 to leave the club before Christmas, while he is 2/1 to still be in charge on 30th May 2027.

“Roberto De Zerbi is the 2/1 frontrunner to go first after his odds were slashed from 5/1 after Tottenham’s defeat against fellow strugglers Aston Villa on Saturday.”

As per the Athletic, while Carrick's position at Man Utd is secure, results will dictate his future amid reports if a managerial change is made that Antonio Conte is at the top of the shortlist of replacements.
