Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo had withdrawn from national team duty when the England squad was announced, while several stars have fallen victim to injuries during the international break.

Benjamin Sesko is reportedly out for a while, with Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui also being withdrawn from matches due to injury.

The worst news came from the Portugal camp, as it was announced that Bruno Fernandes was playing on with pain after picking up a knock against Sabah FK in the Champions League.

Carrick’s thoughts on United injury crisis

Not all is doom and gloom, with The Peoples Person relaying that the Red Devils are hopeful that both Carlos Baleba and Amad will make the squad for the Tottenham Hotspur game.

The reliable Sully has added that Michael Carrick, who is under pressure following United’s poor start to the season, is not worried about the various injury updates emerging during the international break.

In fact, the coaches at Carrington are confident that they can engineer a quick turnaround in form once the action resumes.

“On fitness: Carrick and staff aren’t as concerned on the fitness issues as to what’s being stated in the media. confidence they can turn form around,” Sully wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Better to play a friendly than just training

Before the real action resumes, the 20-time English league champions are set to play fellow INEOS-owned outfit FC Lausanne-Sport in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Carrington this week.

The Old Trafford side are planning to hand fringe players and recently recovered players the chance to earn minutes and, in the process, get some much-needed match sharpness.

“Behind closed door friendly against Lausanne to take place this week at Carrington. great chance to gain sharpness for players.”

It will be interesting to see the kind of lineup Carrick opts for, but for now, the fact that the head coach is not worried about the injury issue seems to suggest not all of the players have suffered serious repercussions.

Hopefully, he can pick from a strong squad for the game against their North London rivals.
