Michael Olise was voted readers’ standout as France beat Senegal 3-1 in their 2026 World Cup opener, while Ousmane Dembélé received the lowest mark.

According to L'Équipe, more than 18,000 readers scored the team after Tuesday's win, with Olise leading on 7.6 ahead of Kylian Mbappé on 7.3 and Dayot Upamecano on 7.2. Its reporters had picked Mbappé as man of the match, but readers sided with Olise, who set up the captain's opener.

Alongside Upamecano, William Saliba earned 6.3, while the full-backs and Mike Maignan drew harsher reviews.

Maignan and Jules Koundé were given 4.5, with Théo Hernandez on 4.8. In midfield, Adrien Rabiot posted 6.8, ahead of Aurélien Tchouaméni on 5.9, and Désiré Doué, replaced in the second half, on 5.4.

Dembélé, the Ballon d'Or, was the night's lowest at 4.2 and was substituted in the 80th minute. Didier Deschamps received 6.7, with readers welcoming his tweaks, notably the introduction of Bradley Barcola, who scored minutes after coming on.
