Leicester City remain in talks over a potential deal for Michail Antonio, with Marti Cifuentes speaking increasingly positively about the 35-year-old former West Ham forward.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Antonio is training with City while discussions over a contract continue, having been out of senior club action for 12 months after breaking his leg in a serious car crash.

Cifuentes said the club are assessing him and would probably make a decision soon, adding there is interest on both sides.

He believes Antonio could help if he is ready, and framed the process as getting aligned rather than a trial.

The manager highlighted Antonio’s 17 years of professional experience and said nobody would be surprised by his quality.

City already have three strikers, but Patson Daka, who has scored once this season, is away with Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Julian Carranza has yet to score since joining on loan from Feyenoord.

Jordan Ayew is the leading scorer of the three with four goals, two from the penalty spot.
